Don,
Yes. there is a lot of debate about the authenticity of the Zeno manuscripts. There are two artifacts that are perplexing and may be explained without reference to the Zeno manuscripts and maps - one is the Westford Knight - a punched out impression on a boulder of a knight with the Scottish Gunn family shield. The other is the Newport Tower in Rhode Island. The tower is mentioned in early 17th century documents - prior to the settlement of the area. I should also mention Rosslyn Chapel which has carvings of maize and aloe cacti found in the Americas. William Sinclair built the chapel in the mid-1400s. His sister is one of David Thomson (b. about 1588) of Corstorphine's great great grandmothers.

excerpt:
"In 1558 a descendant of the family, who in his boyhood had torn and mutilated the papers, repaired his fault to the best of his ability, and putting his own blamelessly ignorant construction on the language of the text, endowed the map, then rotten with age, with additions which have since caused a great amount of perplexity. He then published extracts from the letters with the map as an illustration."
