Richard passed away suddenly on January 2. He had flu symptoms for 2 days and then died suddenly. The doctors are running tests to determine the actual cause of death. For any of you who've met him, he was someone who took good care of his health. If there is anyone who would like more information, please let me know. Thanks you. Dick was at my house on Christmas and taking me through the website. We always joked that I like to scrapbook and have albums of pictures of people while he has photo albums of gravesites. I knew I had to contact the organization. Dick was the healthiest member of our family so this was such a surprise. He was a runner since he was 15 years old, ate right, never smoked, rarely had a drink, just took such great care of his body. His wife Barbara said he came down with the flu Monday afternoon, 12/31, and felt the same Tuesday. Around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning he got up from bed and fell but was coherent. She called 911 and he was coherent in the ambulance. He died in the ER. Because his lab results were very odd (no white cells, no ability for the blood to clot) his body was sent to the Boston medical examiner. His body has been returned but the results are pending. We have a history of heart attacks in our family so in some ways I?m glad they are checking. The wake is Thursday, January 10, from 2-4 and 6-8 at Aubertine Funeral Home in New Bedford; if there is anyone you think would like to have this information, please pass it along. Because he preferred cremation, there won?t be a funeral but will be a luncheon and memory sharing on Friday, time TBA. I can also get that information if anyone is interested. Even as I cry as I write this email, I am thinking of my brother?s interests. And I realize that 100 years from now he is going to want someone to be able to trace our line back to him. I don?t know what Barbara is planning to do with his ashes; she may choose to keep them. I want to add his name and dates to the family stone in Rockland with my parents and paternal grandmother. Do you think this would be right? Thanks for your concern. Although I was not involved in his genealogy efforts, I will probably be inheriting all his work. If you ever need to reach me, my address is Jeanne Cianciola, 81 Old Town Way, Hanover, MA 02339. My sister in law is Barbara Thompson, 2 Royal way, South Dartmouth, MA 02748. The family migrated from Swanzey to Dummerston VT and then on to Richmond. I even have writing from my ancestor from when he was town clerk in the late 1700s. Someday...
