Greetings from your western neighbor (Niles, MI),
Betty Lou Morris
The John Thompson of Mendon has always been a question mark gleaned
from my pedigree chart studies.

On Ancestry.com the Wilkins/Rhinehart by owner bethhallanger
back tracks that line from Charles Blancher Thompson,>David Thompson
(1771-1849)>Elisha (1745-1812)>David Thompson (1711-1757)>David
Thompson (1687-1704)-[with this David born in Mendon, MA] but his
father Jonathan 1645-1691 (wife Thankful Woodland) born and died in
Woburn near Boston, MA. If this is so, Jonathan would have to had
traveled to Mendon in his life time.
I have visited the library at Mendon and their records are small.
With this pedigree chart there is no documention. In the
book "First Yankee" there is more documentation and a greater
possibility that the Charles Blancher line came this way.
In all genealogical studies we go from the known to the
unknown. We 'hang onto' the most plausible. Quint Thompson
